Sponsor a Bird Under Care in the Raptor Hospital

Help support a bird currently under care in the Raptor Center Hospital. We rely on the generosity of our supporters to achieve our mission because we do not receive any tax support or public funds. Donations are vital to purchase essential items such as food, medications, and medical supplies necessary to treat the hundreds of ill and injured birds admitted to the Raptor Hospital each year. We do not charge a fee to treat injured birds brought to the Raptor Center, but your donations make it possible to provide these birds with excellent care. We will keep you updated regarding YOUR bird's care and if the bird is released we will invite you to attend.

Sponsor a Recently Released Banded Raptor

Since 1994, RAPTOR Inc. has worked with a licensed bird bander to band the birds we rehabilitate and release back to the wild. A metal band containing a unique number is placed around the leg of the raptor at the time of release. Information about the bird, the date of banding, and the banding location is entered into a national database. If the bird is encountered again, the band number can be used to enter additional information regarding the movement, age and behavior of the bird. The banding process provides indispensable information about many North American avian species. Analysis of this information can direct important governmental conservation and management decisions, and help us evaluate the effectiveness of our rehabilitation techniques. You can select the species of raptor that you would like to sponsor.

Those who sponsor a Bird Under Care or a Banded Raptor will receive:

  • A sponsorship certificate detailing the raptor’s story, band number, and vital statistics.
  • A fact sheet containing information about the sponsored bird's species.
  • If the bird is banded and the band is recovered, the sponsor will be notified of the date and location of the recovery. If you see a banded bird, we encourage observers to try to photograph the band number. We will report the sighting to the US Geological Survey database if the band is readable.
