Raptors are birds of prey including hawks, eagles, osprey, vultures and owls. Generally characterized by sharp, curved claws or talons and hooked beaks, raptors are predators: they feed upon other animals.

Because they are important to the ecological balance and because many species are declining in numbers, raptors are protected by both state and federal laws.

If you find an injured bird of prey and you are in the Greater Cincinnati area, call RAPTOR, INC. at 513-825-3325. If you are not in this area, you can call your local Fish & Wildlife officer, local zoo or Park District.
