COVID-19 Response

The Raptor Center is open to accept injured/ill birds for treatment and to care for the birds residing at the facility. Call ahead for instructions before dropping off an injured bird at (513) 825-3325. If we do not answer, listen to the message and follow the instructions to reach our emergency dispatcher.  Masks are required.

Program Guidelines in Light of the COVID-19 Pandemic

We are excited to welcome guests back to the Raptor Center for educational programming and Open Houses, and to resume our public off-site presentations. With your help and adherence to the health guidelines below, we can remain open. We are learning right along with you about how to best operate to keep each other safe and healthy. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

On-site Tours and Programs:

  • Programs will be limited to 10 guests per classroom or educational station location.
  • We will wear masks during the event.
  • Guests need to wear masks/face coverings and to maintain social distancing from anyone not in your household.
  • We will conduct programs outside whenever possible.
  • We will sanitize high-contact surfaces regularly.
  • We ask guests to use hand sanitizer after touching any biofacts.

Open Houses:

  • To ensure proper social distancing and to best protect our visitors and staff, the number of guests that we can accommodate during our Open House events will be restricted. Reservation requests for specific arrival time slots are required and will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis. Please submit a reservation request via the form at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/P77SW2X . We will confirm your reservation arrival time via email.
  • We will wear masks during the event.
  • Guests need to wear masks as well and maintain social distancing from anyone not in their household.
  • We will maintain one-way traffic through the facility.
  • We will conduct educational stations outside when possible.
  • We will sanitize high-contact surfaces regularly (door handles, counter tops, toilet handle, bathroom sink, hand sanitizer bottles, soap/hand sanitizer dispensers, etc.)
  • Hand sanitizer will be available at various locations throughout the facility.
  • We ask guests to use hand sanitizer after touching any biofacts.

Off-site Programs:

  • Hosts are responsible for setting up the venue to encourage social distancing, to provide staff/volunteers to help guests maintain social distancing, and to sanitize any high-contact surfaces between groups.
  • We will wear masks during the event.
  • Our educators will comply with additional health protocols that host organizations may have in place.
  • Guests need to wear masks/face coverings and to maintain social distancing from anyone not in their household.
  • We request to conduct programs outside whenever possible.
  • We will sanitize the table surface we use during the program.
  • We ask guests to use hand sanitizer after touching any biofacts.

Virtual Programs:

  • Any of our formal programs can be delivered virtually and include appearances from our Avian Ambassadors.

Prevention and awareness are important to reduce the spread of the disease:

  • PLEASE, stay home if you have any symptoms of illness or if you think you have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus within the last 2 weeks.
  • Wear a mask while in public. Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.
  • Avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Wash your hands often. Use soap and water, and wash for at least 20 seconds. Use hand sanitizer often if hand-washing facilities are not available.
